Vestiti Musica Ragazzi
"They say that when you grow up you become calmer. I don't."
Synopsis
In the mid-1970s, Viv Albertine desperately wanted to be in a band. But she couldn't play a note, and she didn't know any girls in London who were making music.
A couple of years later she joined the Slits, one of the first and most influential all-female punk bands. This is her account of those years that changed everything: a battle of excess and provocation, drugs, sex, incredible looks, "feminist gangs" and talented misfits.
Vestiti Musica Ragazzi is not just the memoir of a revolutionary artist. It is the story of an era and its protagonists, such as Sid Vicious (with whom Viv had a deep friendship), Joe Strummer and Mick Jones, who dedicated the Clash's masterpiece «Train in Vain» to her out of love. And the confirmation that there is a life beyond punk: with extreme sincerity the author faces the most recent years, her career in cinema and assisted procreation, divorce, illness, the return to music. Making this book one of the most beautiful autobiographies on being young, and on growing old, that have ever been written.

Author
Viv Albertine grew up in London. In 1976, while studying at the Chelsea School of Art, she formed Flowers of Romance with Sid Vicious; the following year, at the age of twenty-two, she joined the Slits, a short-lived all-female band that decades later would be considered among those who most contributed to defining the canons of punk. After working for many years as a filmmaker for cinema and television, she returned to music. She has released an EP, an album and two award-winning books: She lives in London with her daughter and dedicates herself full time to writing.
