Chronicles from Hidden Italy
Incredible stories, unexpected celebrities, curious places and other miracles from the Italian provinces
Synopsis
Hordes of tourists in the streets of villages, cities paralyzed by million-dollar weddings, and unmissable opportunities for Instagram. In times of overtourism, it is increasingly difficult to find places off the beaten path. Difficult, but not impossible, provided you have the hunter’s instinct of Ivan Carozzi, a refined writer and speleologist of the soul of deep Italy, where the glories of the empire and the slums, poets and accountants, genius and the art of getting by, alleged saints and tireless sinners have always coexisted. A journey through twenty regions and more than eighty stories, among the secrets of a peninsula made of snow-capped peaks and pristine coasts, utopian communities, pop icons on the trail of their roots, and desperate people seeking redemption. Outside the most frequented circuits, where the humble can still become a hero and traditions are not just used to make a profit. Thus is born this collection of Italian miracles, made of the same stuff as lakes, houses, stones, and faces marked by time. To rediscover the true magic hidden in the folds of the past and the present. Preface by Enrico Deaglio.
